A collaborative space for all family members, utilizing technology and tools to build, create, experiment, and have fun while learning new skills or improving upon prior knowledge. A makerspace can prepare all generations with expertise in STEM fields, improving critical thinking, and boosting confidence by utilizing hands-on experiential learning that may lead to entrepreneurship and business start-ups and inspire a lifelong love of learning and the exploration of new interests.

The Technical Assistant will support the Makerspace Manager with initiatives and learning experiences.  

Full Time Position Available 

·      Understand and assist members with STEM learning activities, experiences, and lessons in the capacity of either open-making experiences and running classes.   

·      Activities, experiences and lessons will include: 3D Modeling/Printing, Laser Cutting & Etching- acrylic/wood/metal, CNC- metal /wood, Epoxy Resin Creations, Wood Burning/ Lichtenberg Burns, Woodworking, Art- drawing/pastels/painting/inks, Jewelry, Environmental Gardening- Monarch Butterfly gardens/hydroponics/microgreens, Trout rearing- aquaculture/aquaponics, Drones & Rockets, Electronics & Robotics, Engineering/Building Challenges, Gastronomy- juice caviars/pearls, Infused butter-making, Beer/Mead/Spirits/Wine Making Tastings, Photography/Videography/Theatre, Gaming/Coding, Candlemaking, Slimes & Doughs, Clay Sculptures and Pottery, Textile Creations- Weaving/Sewing/Macrame, etc.  

·      Restock materials.

·      Cleaning the facility.

·      Other duties as assigned.               

·      A STEM background is ideal but not required. 

·      Highly effective communication, listening, collaboration, organization, and interpersonal skills.

·      Technologically competent.

·      Must be a creative thinker.

·      Ability to problem solve and strategically handle any obstacles and challenges that arise while maintaining good outcomes and results. 

·      Good organizational and communication skills.

• Ability to work holidays and weekends as directed.
