Schedule: Internship runs from May through August. Flexible schedule, full-time hours available through summer. Hours are approximately 9 am - 5 pm Monday - Friday. Occasional weekend events. Must be able to work holidays including Western Stampede July 3rd, 4th, 5th.

SUMMARY
Under immediate supervision of the Events Manager, assists with all aspects in the execution of citywide events. Applicant must be able to work each day of the Western Stampede!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· Assist with community events throughout the city, including the Western Stampede Rodeo, and Fourth of July Parade.
· Coordinate with vendors to schedule and map out the Vendor Fair at the Western Stampede, and serve on-site during the event to assist as needed.
· Coordinate with Parade entrants and assist with operations during the Fourth of July Parade.
· Work with the Events Staff during the Western Stampede Rodeo assisting attendees with questions, and general event operations.
· Assist with additional City Events including Memorial Day, First Friday Concert Series, Demolition Derby, Monster Truck Rally.
· Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduate or current enrollment or in an associate or bachelor’s degree program in hospitality, marketing, event planning, recreation, or related field.
Experience: No experience required.
Certifications/Licenses:
· Valid Utah Driver’s License
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
· Event operations and coordinating multiples projects at once.
· Basic conflict resolution and mediation techniques.
· English usage, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation.
· Principles and techniques used in dealing with the public.
· Word processing methods, techniques, and programs including spreadsheet and database applications.
· Safe driving principles and practices.
Skill with:
· Operating modern office equipment including computers and software.
· Operate a motor vehicle safely.
Ability to:
· Work cooperatively with department supervisors, staff, volunteers, City officials, outside agencies and the public.
· Exercise initiative and work under limited supervision within a broad framework of standard policies and procedures.
· Maintain confidential data and information.
· Plan and organize work to meet schedules and timelines.
· Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
· Work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects at once.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work in a standard office environment, Ability to work in a standard office environment; ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, and lift up to 30 lbs., ability to travel to different sites and locations. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and be on your feet for extended periods of time.
