JOB TITLE – Banquet Chef

DEPARTMENT - Banquets                      

REPORTS TO - Director of Operations

 

SUMMARY 

The Banquet Chef is responsible for overseeing the culinary operations for all banquet events at Temple Square Hospitality. This role ensures the preparation, presentation, and execution of high-quality food for all catered events, ensuring guest satisfaction, safety, and compliance with health standards. The Banquet Chef will also lead and supervise the kitchen staff, manage inventory, and ensure the kitchen is operating efficiently.

 

JOB ENVIRONMENT 

Works primarily indoors in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment, with occasional outdoor catering events. Must be comfortable working required hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate event schedules. Works with a variety of kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, and industrial kitchen tools.


SKILLS, EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS 

o Proven experience as a chef or cook in a banquet or catering setting with strong culinary skills, including knowledge of food preparation, presentation, and menu development.

o Strong leadership skills with experience managing kitchen staff and delegating responsibilities.

o Ability to maintain a calm demeanor under pressure and handle stressful situations effectively.

o Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

o Physically capable of lifting and moving kitchen equipment, heavy items, and food ingredients up to 70 pounds.

o Adherence to a professional appearance, hygiene standards, and company dress and grooming policy.

o Must be comfortable working in fast-paced environments.

o Previous experience managing kitchen inventory and ordering supplies is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

o Oversees the preparation and execution of banquet meals, ensuring all food items meet Temple Square Hospitality’s standards.

o Manages kitchen staff, including delegating tasks, training, and providing guidance on food preparation and presentation.

o Monitors kitchen operations, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and food safety protocols are strictly adhered to.

o Supervises food preparation for special dietary needs, including vegetarian, gluten-free, and allergy-sensitive options.

o Coordinates with event planners and front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service for banquet events.

o Maintains inventory of kitchen supplies and food items, placing orders as needed and ensuring proper stock levels.

o Ensures the proper cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment and workstations.

o Keeps track of food waste and works to minimize it.

o Communicates effectively with management to ensure the smooth execution of events and guest satisfaction.

o Performs other duties as assigned by management.


OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS

o May be required to work outside of regular business hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, to accommodate event schedules.

o Takes on additional duties as required or assigned by management.

o Understands that management reserves the right to modify job descriptions as necessary.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:

$90,000 - $100,000. This range is inclusive of multiple job levels. Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.
