Driver Manager Job Description

A Driver Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the operations of a fleet of drivers, ensuring efficient delivery of goods and services while providing strong support to drivers.

Responsibilities

  • Driver Support and Well-being: Provide ongoing support to drivers by addressing their concerns, assisting with problem-solving, and ensuring their needs are met to maintain high morale.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Assign routes and loads to drivers, ensuring timely deliveries.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track driver performance, safety compliance, and adherence to company policies.
  • Communication: Act as a liaison between drivers, dispatch teams, and clients to address any issues or changes.
  • Training and Recruitment: Oversee training and retention of qualified drivers while implementing training programs to enhance skills.
  • Fleet Maintenance: Act as an advisor to the driver to help them in their responsibilities to ensure their truck is compliant, safe to operate and maintained properly.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze route efficiency and performance data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Customer Relations: Resolve complaints related to delivery or driver conduct to maintain positive relationships.


Qualifications

  • Education: A high school diploma is typically required, though a degree in transportation or logistics can be beneficial.
  • Skills: Strong communication, decision-making, and organizational skills are essential. Experience with logistics software is often valued.
  • Experience: Background in transportation management, route planning, fleet maintenance or employment as a driver would be advantageous.
