Job Summary/Basic Function:


Position will train, schedule, and support professional development of all instructors involved in Care about Childcare at Weber State University. Work with providers and caregivers in areas including recruitment, retention and training initiatives. Responsible for the development of program activities, creating and teaching of specialized curriculum, and culmination of data for the State Office of Child Care and Department of Workforce Services. Perform other duties as assigned by the agency and/or Office of Child Care. Provides training, coaching, technical assistance, and consultation to childcare programs in the service area (Weber, Davis, Morgan counties) participating in the Department of Workforce Services, Office of Child Care, Child Care Quality system, and other early childhood initiatives.


Required Qualifications:


Required:


• Associates degree with a focus on early childhood, early childhood education, psychology, family studies or other related field. General Studies associates degree is acceptable.

• Must have two years (24 months) experience in a child care center.

• Must have six months experience of direct responsibility for the professional development of adults, such has management of a team, or leading training for a staff. Must have knowledge of adult learning and instruction.


Preferred Qualifications:


Preferred:


• Bachelor's degree in early childhood field or related field such as psychology, human development, family studies, and education. Preference to candidates with classes that include Introduction to Early Childhood/ Developmentally Appropriate Best Practices (or equivalent), Child Development/ Birth to 8 years (or equivalent), Principles of Positive Guidance (or equivalent) and classes must be from an approved accredited institute of higher learning.

• Working knowledge of research based best practices for home and center child care.

• Background with both quality environments and optimal interactions with children and families in early care settings.

• Knowledge of national accreditation standards for home and center child care programs.

• Knowledge of word processing programs.

• Able to use databases and input accurate information into those databases.

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
