We are seeking a Tax and Bookkeeping Specialist with Technical Writing Experience to join our team.
This role is ideal for a professional with real-world experience in tax preparation, state-specific compliance, and bookkeeping who can also develop high-quality training materials.
The primary responsibility is to research, create, and update technical content for tax updates, state-specific training, and bookkeeping courses.
The right candidate will have a strong grasp of accounting principles and tax regulations and the ability to translate complex information into clear, educational resources for adult learners.
This is a content development role with a heavy emphasis on subject matter expertise first, writing second.
Research and Analyze tax law changes (federal and some state-specific) and bookkeeping best practices to ensure training materials are always current and compliant.
Create and Update training manuals, course materials, and instructional guides related to tax preparation, state-specific tax requirements, and bookkeeping practices.
Develop State-Specific Content for specialized tax courses, identifying key differences between states and federal requirements. (Currently CA and OR)
Translate Complex Information into clear, easy-to-understand content suitable for adult learners with varying levels of experience.
Maintain Course Consistency by applying company style guides, formatting standards, and voice/tone guidelines across all educational content.
Proofread and Edit existing materials to improve clarity, flow, and instructional effectiveness.
Support Online Learning by helping design quizzes, exercises, case studies, and other learning activities that reinforce key concepts.
Support Online Students by answering tax and bookkeeping questions as needed.
Manage and Organize content versions, updates, and revisions in the Learning Management System (LMS) and internal databases.
Stay Current with trends in tax, bookkeeping, and adult education, bringing fresh ideas to improve the student learning experience.
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in tax preparation, bookkeeping, or accounting.
Strong understanding of federal and state-specific tax laws and small business bookkeeping practices.
Technical writing experience developing training materials, manuals, guides, or instructional content.
Ability to simplify complex tax and accounting topics into clear, understandable lessons for adult learners.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfortable using Learning Management Systems (LMS-Thinkific) or similar platforms, CRM (Zoho).
Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and strong project management skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines on multiple projects at once.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience working with QuickBooks, Xero, or other accounting software (preferred).
Certification such as Enrolled Agent (EA), Professional Tax Preparer (PTP), Certified Bookkeeper (PB, CB, or CPB), or related credential (preferred, but not required).
