The Metal Finishing Specialist is responsible for preparing, finishing, + polishing metal components to meet quality + aesthetic standards. This role requires expertise in surface preparation, coating applications, + finishing techniques to ensure durability + visual appeal. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced in metal fabrication, + committed to delivering high-quality workmanship.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform metal finishing processes, including sanding, grinding, buffing, + polishing.
  • Fabricate handrails, custom hardware, partition walls, cladding, etc.
  • Apply coatings, patinas, + protective finishes according to project specifications.
  • Inspect finished products for quality, ensuring consistency + defect-free surfaces.
  • Operate + maintain finishing equipment, including hand tools + automated machinery.
  • Follow safety procedures + guidelines to ensure a secure work environment.
  • Collaborate with fabricators, welders, + production teams to meet project deadlines.
  • Troubleshoot finishing issues + recommend process improvements.
  • Maintain a clean + organized work area.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of experience in metal finishing, fabrication, or a related field.
  • Expertise in surface preparation, finishing techniques, + coating applications.
  • Experience with welding, including TIG + MIG.
  • Ability to read + interpret blueprints, drawings, + technical documents.
  • Strong attention to detail + commitment to quality.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, + finishing equipment.
  • Experience working with steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, and copper.
  • Ability to work independently + as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills + adaptability.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy materials, + perform repetitive tasks.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices + procedures.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS + ATTITUDES

  • Technical skills: The Metal Finishing Specialist must have expertise in metal finishing processes, equipment operation, + welding techniques. This role requires proficiency in surface preparation, coating applications, + precision finishing to ensure high-quality results.
  • Communication skills: Strong verbal + written communication skills are essential for collaborating with internal teams + external partners. The Metal Finishing Specialist must clearly convey expectations, provide updates, + foster collaboration.
  • Attention to detail: This role requires a keen eye for detail to maintain high standards of accuracy, cleanliness, + quality throughout the finishing process, ensuring consistency + defect-free surfaces.
  • Problem-solving skills: The Metal Finishing Specialist must use problem-solving skills to troubleshoot finishing defects, optimize processes, + resolve challenges efficiently while contributing to a positive team environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude: A strong understanding of tools, machinery, + mechanical systems is required to manage metal finishing tasks effectively, ensuring proper use + maintenance of equipment.

 

JOB TYPE

  • Full-time.
  • Monday – Friday.
  • On-site – Draper, UT.
  • Highly physical. Must be able to lift heavy items, stand for multiple hours + withstand a variety of climates in the warehouse.
