Mushroom grow Mycologist

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Mycologist to join our team at a visionary medicinal mushroom facility currently under construction in rural Utah and set to open in the next 4 months tops. This is not just a job — it’s a chance to co-create something from the ground up. Our mission is to build a healing-focused production space for functional and medicinal mushrooms that feeds both body and soul.

While the facility is still in its final build-out phase, we are looking for the right individual to contribute early-stage expertise to help design the systems, workflows, and lab protocols that will support long-term excellence.

Responsibilities

Consult on optimal grow room, lab, and substrate system design during the construction phase

Guide the development of cultivation protocols for species with positive medical based properties

Advise on contamination control strategies, environmental regulation, and sterilization infrastructure

Once operational, lead the hands-on execution of cultivation, harvesting, and quality control

Conduct experiments to improve yield, substrate performance, and fruiting reliability

Train team members in lab technique, cleanroom practices, and spawn maintenance

Collaborate on future product development, including drying, extraction, and packaging

Maintain detailed documentation and ensure quality standards are met from day one

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mycology a plus but not required, Microbiology, Plant Science, or related fields (practical and hands on experience valued just as much, if not more!)
  • 2–3+ years hands-on mushroom cultivation or fungal lab research
  • Strong knowledge of fungal life cycles, contamination prevention, and environmental optimization
  • Experience working in cleanrooms or food-safe production facilities
  • Detail-oriented, collaborative, and capable of both research and practical execution
  • Bonus if passionate about regenerative living, herbal medicine, and/or sustainability
  • Familiarity with GMP or FDA-regulated production environments is a plus

Additional Information

We are currently in the construction and system design phase of the facility.

  • Full-time employment will begin once the facility is fully operational.
  • In the meantime, we are offering paid consultation and part-time collaboration for system design, planning, and setup.
  • Your early involvement will help us build the space right the first time — designed around real-world cultivation and scientific needs.

We want to create something excellent, and that requires your voice from the start.

On-site work in Fairview Utah is required once operational. Remote consultation is welcome during the build phase.

Housing or relocation support may be offered for the right candidate.

You'll be joining a growing team with plans to expand into a global network of detox and healing centers — starting with this flagship facility.

Please send your resume and a short letter about your passion for fungi, healing, and visionary work to:

Dionisis@WoodlandWonders.co

You may also include links to past research, personal grows, or documentation if available.
