Job Description

HR Generalist- People Operations

 Full-Time | On-Site in Holladay and/or Tooele, UT | Pay DOE

You’re an experienced HR professional who thrives on building better systems, solving complex problems, and making sure people feel seen, supported, and set up for success. You’ve managed payroll, benefits, compliance, and employee relations—but now you’re ready for something more. More ownership. More purpose. More impact.

As an HR Generalist at Utah Youth Village, you’ll get all of that—and the chance to use your skills to help change lives.

What You’ll Do

You’ll take the lead on core HR functions that truly matter. In this role, you’ll:

  • Manage our HRIS (Paycom) and maintain clean, accurate, compliant employee records
  • Oversee payroll and benefits with attention to detail and compassion for people
  • Handle FMLA, workers’ compensation, LOAs, and related compliance processes confidently
  • Support supervisors and staff, helping them navigate policies and processes with clarity and care
  • Conduct and support investigations and exit interviews, contributing to a fair and respectful workplace
  • Analyze data and trends to inform decision-making and strengthen organizational culture
  • Balance and Audit accounting records related to benefits, payroll, and reimbursements.
  • Deliver training and build stronger people-management practices across teams
  • Identify the problem, solve it, and prevent it from happening again—and make it all easier for the next person

Why This Role is Different

This isn’t a box-checking HR role. It’s built for someone who:

  • Wants more influence and autonomy
  • Thrives in values-driven environments
  • Loves a challenge and works with curiosity
  • Communicates clearly, even when it’s complex
  • Believes that good systems protect people

You’ll work closely with the Director of People & Culture and have a direct hand in shaping the way we care for our employees—because how we treat our staff directly impacts how we serve our youth and families.

We’re looking for a strong generalist who’s ready to take the lead in their lane.

  • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist or compliance-heavy role
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems (Paycom a big plus)
  • Experience managing FMLA, workers’ comp, and other regulatory requirements
  • Excellent communication skills and sound judgment
  • A people-centered approach with a head for problem-solving
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred
  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) is a bonus

  • Generous PTO of 8 hrs/month sick and 8-14 hrs/month vacation, and 11 holidays.
