Ogden-Weber Technical College is seeking a dedicated Automotive Service Technology Instructor to join our team at the Business Depot Ogden (BDO) Campus.
In this hands-on teaching role, you’ll help students build real-world skills in areas such as electronic systems, brakes, suspension and steering, engine repair, transmissions, heating and air conditioning, hybrid/EV systems, and essential workplace professionalism. You'll play a key role in preparing students for successful careers in the automotive industry—and helping them achieve program completion, licensure, and job placement.
As an instructor, you'll work under the direction of the Program Coordinator and collaborate closely with other experienced faculty members to ensure a high-quality, industry-relevant learning experience. You’ll also track student progress, verify competencies, and support curriculum maintenance and updates.

1. Provide students with technical instruction in a safe, clean, and productive learning environment; maintain student records to include verification of attendance and completion of competencies.
2. Meet programmatic and accrediting body goals for student completion, placement, and licensure.
3. Advise students in the areas of program and college expectations, appropriate work behavior, and dress standards. Assist counselors, administration, and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student success.
4. Assist the program coordinator with maintaining program assets.
5. Work closely with the program coordinator to improve curriculum and instructional methodologies to increase student success.
6. Complete assignments within established timelines.
7. Attend programmatic team meetings.
8. Work cooperatively with the college community and with all college stakeholders. Represent the college community in a professional manner.
9. Other responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
1. Minimum of four years of a combination of related work experience and post-secondary education in automotive to include a minimum of two years of work experience as an automotive technician/mechanic.
2. Minimum ASE certifications in G1, A4, A5 and A6 or meet the requirements to obtain required ASE certifications
3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications as well as other computer software applications.
Education and Experience Preferred:
1. Preference will be given to those individuals that have teaching and curriculum development experience.
2. Preference will be given to those individuals who have completed a post-secondary Automotive program and/or an associate’s or bachelor's degree in a related field.
3. Spanish-speaking proficiency desirable.
Physical Requirements:
1. Work requires physical exertion. Will require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for extended periods of time.
2. Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, etc.
Working Hours: Program Hours are 8:00 a.m. -9:00 p.m. Monday -Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Friday. Max 29 hours per week mix of day and evening.
