University Pharmacy- is a locally owned community retail and compounding pharmacy located near the University of Utah campus. We pride ourselves in providing personalized service and a wide variety of pharmacy and specialty products.

University Pharmacy is looking to fill a Pharmacy Compounding and Pharmacy Technician Trainee position to work full-time, afternoon/evening shift and some Saturdays. This is a great opportunity to learn from licensed Pharmacists, licensed technicians, and from required online courses at no charge. You will accumulate needed experience hours while being paid to work.

The goal is to become a Licensed Pharmacy Technician and embark on a career dedicated to patient service and future learning.

Responsibilities

  • Help patients and healthcare providers by greeting them in person and by phone; answering questions and requests, and addressing patient concerns; refer inquiries to a pharmacist as needed.
  • Ensure accuracy of patient information.
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking inventory levels, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and removing outdated drugs.
  • Protect patient PHI by adhering to HIPAA privacy law.
  • Troubleshoot issues with medication availability, third party coverage, and prescription refill requests.
  • Work effectively and efficiently to dispense medications for pharmacists to check by reading medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, calculating quantities, and assembling orders in accordance with therapy administration methods.
  • Maintain records when filling physicians' orders and prescriptions.
  • Generate revenues by calculating, recording and issuing charges/processing payments.
  • Perform regular cleaning, maintenance, and equipment troubleshooting as needed.
  • Ensure medication availability by effectively collaborating with peer technicians and other departments for scheduling and drug ordering.
  • Have knowledge of and follow applicable standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Contribute to team effort.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Comfortable using computers, fax machines and telephones
  • Flexible schedule
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs
  • Be able to stand for full shifts
  • Friendly, customer-service oriented attitude
