Job Description

It is the responsibility of the Kennel Assistant to ensure the safety and well-being of all dogs in our program. Our purpose is to Raise and Breed quality Australian Shepherds for Therapy, Service and Pet/Companion homes. Daily Tasks focus on providing mental and physical stimulation as well as a clean and comfortable living environment for all dogs and puppies. You will work alongside the owners as well as their young children at our home, in our finished dog facility. Looking for someone that's willing to go the extra mile. This job will be full of opportunities to play with dogs and puppies on a daily basis but also requires a lot of work to provide the dogs with a clean living environment. We prefer someone that is available (3 hours a day) to come around 3:00 pm to 5:30 or 6pm at night, Monday through Friday and to help with some responsibilities when we are on vacation and/or some weekends. Also, if able to, would be great if you could come around 1:00pm to 4 or 5pm. Looking for someone to start Middle to End of February.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for the overall care and well-being of the dogs at our facility.
  • Help with basic training of dogs and puppies.
  • Handle basic grooming and general care.
  • Help provide socialization as well as training to newborn to 8 week old puppies.
  • Provide food and water for dogs. 
  • Exercise and play with all animals as part of their daily schedule.
  • Sanitize and clean living areas, indoor and outdoor play areas, etc. This includes collecting and disposing of animal waste. 
  • Be aware of and provide care for any animal requiring special attention.
  • Inform Owners of any changes in animal behavior as soon as they are noticed. 
  • On occasion, take dogs or puppies to the vet or other places. 
  • Any great pictures or videos taken on the job should be text or emailed to owners, and may be used for social media advertising.
  • Help provide all animals with necessary interaction and socialization. 

Qualifications

  • Basic Dog/Animal care knowledge.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions.
  • Valid Utah’s Driving License with a clear driving history
  • A Functioning point of communication, such as a smartphone, with a valid phone number. Must be able to text and call and take pictures.
  • MAY BE IN HIGH SCHOOL. WOULD BE A GREAT AFTER SCHOOL JOB!

Additional Information

  • Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs
  • Must be able to perform strenuous manual labor.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, run, hike etc.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions
  • Must not be allergic to dogs
  • Must pass a background check before starting the Job.
