Director of Maintenance - Aviation (A&P / IA)

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership for a growing cadre of superb Aviation Maintenance Technicians.
  • Reports directly to the President regarding all aspects of the company including safety, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Prioritizes workflow and supervise production scheduling to ensure optimum use of AMT time.
  • Plans, coordinates and controls all maintenance operations to ensure the highest-possible aircraft safety, reliability, and safety.
  • Performs maintenance activities in accordance with the General Maintenance Manual (GMM), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules and regulations, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) maintenance technical publications.
  • Oversees all aspects of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Ensures the safety of fellow employees and flight students by enforcing OSHA standards and industry best practices.
  • Promotes high morale, efficiency, and safety by maintaining safe and clean spaces.
  • Directs required training and documentation for maintenance personnel.
  • Ensures the accuracy, counts, and security of tools and equipment.
  • Supervises third-party maintenance to ensure the vendors’ contractual compliance.
  • Provides mentorship of interns, apprentices, and junior technicians.
  • Performs scheduled inspections and unscheduled maintenance on 23 fleet aircraft plus outside customer aircraft.
  • Coordinates with instructor pilots, students, and other aircraft maintenance technicians to support and execute the flight schedule.

Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License required, with 5-10 years of prior experience desired;
  • Inspector Authorization (IA) required - the company will consider funding the final certification if all other prerequisites are in met;
  • State Drivers License required;
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required;
  • Solid inter-personal skills, with a friendly and courteous demeanor required;
  • Some fluency with MS Office applications like Word and Excel desired;
  • Aptitude and willingness to learn other office technical skills and web-based scheduling and aircraft maintenance tracking platforms required;
  • Ability to pass a standard background check required;
  • Ability and willingness to work 4-, 5-, 8-, or 10-hour shifts anywhere between 6AM and 6PM, Monday through Saturday required (see more below);
  • Capability and willingness to work on the company’s Salt Lake International Airport-based fleet aircraft when required (company-provided transportation between locations).

Additional Information

The position is offering 40 hours per week, but the company will consider applicants desiring fewer. The hours can be worked in various combinations of 4-, 5-, 8-, or 10-hour shifts, on any of six days per week (Monday through Saturday). Evening and Sunday shifts are available, but not required. Travel and call-outs are rare. Working hours are stable and predictable, but can be flexible to adapt to your personal schedule. We make allowances for flight training, school and the needs of your family.
