Western Technologies Inc. is a 69-years young consulting firm offering professional services in the western United States in the fields of geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, construction materials engineering and testing, nondestructive testing and welding inspection.

We have an immediate full-time opportunity for an experienced ICC Special Inspector in our Salt Lake City office. The ideal candidate will have experience performing construction testing and inspection of soil, concrete, masonry, structural steel and/or spray-applied fireproofing. 

·        On site observations/inspections to confirm compliance with local building codes and project contract documents

·        Performing specific QA/QC tests on construction materials and building components per ASTM, ACI, etc. standards

·        Compiling detailed records of observations, inspections, and test results

·        Collecting samples

Work is generally performed unsupervised (i.e., employee is in the field as the Company’s representative) but under the direction of a Professional Engineer or Project Manager

The successful candidate must:

·        Have current International Code Council (ICC) Reinforced Concrete or Structural Masonry Special Inspector certification

·        (Additional ICC Special Inspector certifications, including Spray Applied Fire Proofing are helpful but not required)

·        Be able to read and understand construction drawings and current code requirements

·        Have good math and written communication skills

·        Have a strong work ethic and attention to detail

·        Be able to work both independently and as a team member

·        Have a valid driver’s license and a clean Motor Vehicle Record

·        Be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening

·        Be able to lift and carry 30 to 50+ pounds
