Job Description

Position Summary 

This role is ideal for someone who “Loves Concrete” and thrives on precision, problem-solving, and continuous improvement in both quality and operations. 

The Quality Control & Operations Coordinator is a key leader in ensuring the consistent production of high-quality volumetric ready-mixed concrete, overseeing the entire QA/QC process from mix design to final product inspection. This role ensures all products meet internal specifications and industry standards through rigorous testing, documentation, and field verification. The coordinator manages daily quality assurance activities and leads a team responsible for inspections, calibrations, and material compliance—while also supporting operational efficiency and resource coordination across production, maintenance, and logistics. 

Starting pay $90K+ per year and will be dependent on level of experience.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

The essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to: 

Quality Assurance/Quality Control - Primary Focus 

  • Lead all aspects of the QA/QC program for ready-mixed concrete production. 
  • Develop and manage mix designs (using Stonemont), perform mix design entries, and ensure compliance with specifications. 
  • Calibrate mixers and monitor batch performance for accuracy and consistency. 
  • Conduct and document pre-pour and post-pour inspections including reinforcement, formwork, and dimensions. 
  • Collect and test concrete samples and cylinders; ensure proper curing and documentation. 
  • Ensure full compliance with ACI, PCI, UDOT, and company-specific quality standards. 
  • Perform regular job site visits to evaluate quality-at-the-source practices and mentor staff accordingly. 
  • Maintain QA/QC documentation and records for audits, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. 

Operations Management  

  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to ensure alignment of QA/QC objectives with daily operations. 
  • Monitor production scheduling and material usage to support inventory and quality needs. 
  • Purchase materials, tools, and equipment as needed to maintain quality and operational readiness. 
  • Conduct daily meetings to communicate quality expectations and address issues. 
  • Assist in setting up special and satellite yard projects with a focus on quality outcomes. 

Team Leadership 

  • Lead and mentor QC staff and support personnel; provide training, coaching, and feedback. 
  • Help develop standard operating procedures and documentation for both quality and operational processes. 
  • Participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new team members. 
  • Foster effective communication between quality, operations, and logistics teams. 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) 

  • Extensive experience in concrete quality control, working knowledge of QA/QC programs, materials testing, and inspection processes. 
  • ACI Level 1 Field Technician Certification required or must be obtained upon employment 
  • Preferred: PCI Levels I–III, UDOT Certifications, and familiarity with industry quality standards. 
  • Strong understanding of volumetric concrete production and related operational procedures. 
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills. 
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) 
  • Familiarity with Stonemont and BlueBeam is a plus. 
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments. 
  • High school diploma or GED required. Additional certifications or technical education are preferred. A 2- or 4-year degree in construction, engineering, or a related field is helpful but not required. 
  • Passion for continuous learning and professional development; Customer-focused mindset with professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information. 
  • This position requires the ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, climb, and bend throughout the workday, with occasional lifting of up to 94 pounds.  
  • Work is primarily conducted in a fast-paced maintenance shop, outdoor yard, and construction site environment, with exposure to varying temperatures, weather conditions, and noise levels, including active machinery.  
  • Candidates must be comfortable in a physically demanding setting and able to adapt to changing conditions. 
  • Additionally, this role may require work outside of standard business hours to address urgent issues, meet production deadlines, and ensure customer satisfaction. 
  • CDL class B preferred, if not must be willing to obtain.
