Job Summary/Basic Function:
We are looking for a creative, reliable, and passionate Assistant Lead Teacher to join our team and support the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children ages 2-5. The Assistant Lead Teacher will assist with daily routines, promote children’s growth and development, and ensure the classroom runs smoothly. This position requires stepping into the Lead Teacher role during breaks, prep time, or absences.
This is a non-benefited position requiring flexible availability Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM. Scheduled hours may vary, with a maximum of 29.5 hours per week. A schedule will be determined when hired.
The Center will be closed between semesters and hours may be reduced during this time.
Parking will not be provided.
Employees will need to purchase a parking permit or park for free at the Dee Event Center and ride shuttle over for shifts.

• Classroom Support:
• Assist in running the classroom, including lesson planning, organizing activities, and maintaining a positive environment.
• Take charge of the classroom during the Lead Teacher’s breaks or prep time, ensuring routines continue smoothly.
• Child Care & Daily Needs:
• Supervise children during meal times, bathroom breaks, and other daily routines.
• Change soiled diapers/underwear as needed.
• Provide positive and supportive interactions to foster a sense of trust and safety.
• Daily Activities:
• Provide both indoor and outdoor activities that promote children’s development in all areas (social, emotional, cognitive, physical).
• Adapt activities to meet the needs of individual children, including those with special needs or challenging behaviors.

• Assist in creating and delivering lesson plans that support early childhood learning.
• Staff Support:
• Mentor and support assistant teachers and hourly staff to maintain smooth classroom operations.
• Parent Communication:
• Communicate daily with parents about their child’s day, progress, and any concerns.
• Cleaning & Sanitizing:
• Ensure the classroom is kept clean and safe for children, following cleaning schedules.

• Current CPR /First Aid Certification.
• Current Food Handler’s Permit.

• Strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practices for young children.
