JOB TITLE – Sous Chef/Assistant Manager

DEPARTMENT – Culinary – The Garden               

REPORTS TO – Kitchen Manager

 

SUMMARY 

The Sous Chef/Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Kitchen Manager in overseeing the daily operations at The Garden restaurant. This role assists with managing kitchen staff, maintaining high culinary standards, and addressing any kitchen-related concerns. The Sous Chef/Assistant Manager will also assist in food preparation, inventory management, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.

 

JOB ENVIRONMENT 

Works primarily indoors in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment. Must be comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate restaurant hours. Works with a variety of kitchen equipment and interacts with kitchen staff and management regularly.


SKILLS, EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS 

·       Proven experience in a culinary managerial role within the hospitality industry, preferably in a high-volume restaurant

·       Strong leadership and team management skills

·       Excellent culinary skills and knowledge of food safety regulations

·       Ability to handle kitchen-related issues and resolve them effectively

·       Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

·       Adherence to a professional appearance, hygiene standards, and company dress and grooming policy

·       Previous experience with food preparation and inventory management is preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

·       Assists management with the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring smooth service and guest satisfaction

·       Supervises and trains kitchen staff, including cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers

·       Maintains cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas

·       Ensures adherence to all health and safety regulations

·       Assists with inventory management and ordering supplies to ensure adequate stock levels

·       Communicates effectively with front of house staff and management to ensure seamless operations

·       Performs other duties as assigned by management

·       Understands that management reserves the right to modify job descriptions as necessary

 

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:

              $22.00/hr - $28.00/hr. This range is inclusive of multiple job levels. Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.
