Job Description

The Infrastructure / Railroad Construction Project Manager is responsible for overseeing infrastructure and railroad construction projects, ensuring progress is accurately tracked and reported using the percentage of completion (POC) accounting method. This role will manage wet utilities, civil construction, and railroad infrastructure projects, including water, sewer, storm drains, and rail-related work, from start to finish. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management with a critical focus on financial forecasting, cost control, and POC accounting to drive informed decision-making and project success.

SEARCHING FOR CANDIDATES IN UTAH (UT) & ARIZONA (AZ).

Responsibilities

  • Develop project plans and schedules, aligning with infrastructure and railroad construction goals.
  • Coordinate with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to meet project objectives.
  • Monitor and forecast project costs, ensuring financial targets and budgets remain on track.
  • Track project completion using POC accounting, providing accurate financial projections and reporting.
  • Allocate resources efficiently while maintaining strict cost control measures.
  • Oversee expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide regular financial updates to stakeholders.
  • Lead project teams, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring clear communication.
  • Address project challenges, delays, and unforeseen issues proactively.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, railroad regulations, and environmental requirements.
  • Secure permits and maintain proper project documentation.
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, providing updates and addressing concerns.
  • Manage contracts, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Conduct project meetings to ensure alignment and progress tracking.
  • All other duties assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in infrastructure and railroad construction project management.
  • Proficiency in Heavy Bid, Excel, and POC accounting, with a strong focus on financial forecasting and cost control.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Experience in budgeting, resource allocation, and financial planning.
  • Familiarity with railroad construction safety regulations and environmental compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • PMP or similar certification is a plus.
  • Capable of passing a pre-employment/post-offer background check and drug screen.
