Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Snowbird is situated in the middle of the Wasatch Mountain Range and is not only home to awe-inspiring views and mighty terrain, it is also home to employees equally as remarkable. TITLE: Executive Sous Chef - Snowbird

LOCATION: Snowbird

STATUS: Year-Round, Full-time, Salary

SCHEDULE: Varies, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business requirements.

SUMMARY

As the Executive Sous Chef of the Snowbird Center food outlets, you will work under the direction of the Senior Executive Chef, overseeing culinary operations across multiple venues. Your role is to ensure the delivery of high-quality food and exceptional dining experiences for Snowbird guests, while maintaining cost control, labor management, and fostering professional growth among your culinary team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Manage and enforce all Snowbird standards, policies, and procedures across multiple kitchen operations.
  • Supervise and coordinate daily kitchen operations across various outlets, ensuring smooth prep and service.
  • Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation, and sanitation across all venues.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Executive Chef to create and update seasonal and event-specific menus.
  • Oversee banquet and special event food production, ensuring timely execution of Banquet Event Orders.
  • Develop and implement efficient ordering, inventory, and staffing systems for multiple venues.
  • Lead, train, and mentor chefs, cooks, and stewards to build a cohesive and high-performing team.
  • Assign, oversee, and evaluate employee performance, providing feedback, training, and performance reviews.
  • Manage food costs, labor, and operating expenses across all outlets.
  • Ensure compliance with local health department regulations, including proper food storage and temperature logging.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of daily sales, payroll, inventory, and monthly profit and loss statements.
  • Foster a collaborative environment between kitchen teams, banquet staff, and front-of-house operations.
  • Travel occasionally for training, culinary events, or Snowbird-related activities.
  • Cultivate a positive team culture by modeling respectful communication, addressing concerns early, and creating opportunities for team building.
  • Facilitate one-on-one meetings with team members to help identify strengths and address areas for improvement. Foster an environment where feedback is welcomed and acted upon positively.
WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE
  • 10 + years of culinary experience, with demonstrated success in multi-outlet operations.
  • Proven ability to design, cost, and execute diverse menus across various venues.
  • Proficiency with kitchen equipment and systems , including Yellow Dog , Coupa, and Workday.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and inspire a high-performing team.
  • Passion for food, beverages , guest satisfaction, and financial success.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions independently within policy guidelines.
  • Solid understanding of Snowbird operations and the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, including preparing and reviewing profit and loss statements.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with inventory and ordering systems.
  • Food Handler's Permit and Serve Safe Certification required .
  • High school diploma required ; college degree in a related field preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and a driving record meets company standards to operate motor vehicles.
WORK SCHEDULE

Varies, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Must be prepared to stay overnight, if necessary, due to road closures.
  • May experience high-stress situations from high business volumes and public interactions.
  • Must be able to lift 5 0 + lbs. and carry trays or other items as needed.
  • Requires standing for long periods and performing physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and repetitive motions.
  • Work environment may involve noise and interruptions.
  • E xposure to both Hot and Cold temperature extremes , working at high altitude, slippery floors, ice- and snow-covered walkways , and other potentially dangerous natural elements.
  • Exposure to chemicals and cleaning agents that may be potentially hazardous, requir ing proper Personal Protect ion Equipment.
