Job Summary/Basic Function:


The Assistant AD for Sports Medicine and NCAA Health Care Administrator oversees the comprehensive sports medicine program at Weber State University. This role entails developing, coordinating, and managing all aspects of sports medicine, fostering relationships with team physicians, physical therapists, student health services, and other healthcare providers, as well as collaborating closely with coaches, administrators, student-athletes and student-athlete parents. Additionally, the position includes direct athletic training responsibilities with assigned teams and strict adherence to NCAA regulations. Moreover, the Assistant AD assumes all duties and responsibilities associated with the role of NCAA Health Care Administrator. 


Required Qualifications:


Required: 


• Masters degree (athletic training)

• 5 years experience as an athletic trainer at the college level

• NATA Certification (National Athletic Trainers Association)


Preferred Qualifications:


Preferred: 


• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in athletic training, including administrative or leadership responsibilities within a collegiate setting.

• Demonstrated experience in managing a comprehensive sports medicine program, including supervision of staff, budgeting, and coordination of care for student-athletes.

• Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with physicians, healthcare professionals, coaches, administrators, and parents.

• Thorough knowledge and application of NCAA regulations, guidelines, and best practices related to sports medicine and student-athlete health and safety.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with a commitment to mentorship and staff development.

• Experience with injury prevention and rehabilitation programs, electronic medical record systems, and data-driven approaches to athlete care.

• Commitment to the holistic well-being of student-athletes, including mental and physical health.

• A demonstrated ability to uphold the values of integrity, service, and excellence consistent with the mission of Weber State University and the spirit of support we strive to provide our student-athletes.

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading., Required to have visual acuity to perform activities such as: operating machines, (i.e. lathes, drill presses, power saws) where the job is at or within arm’s reach; skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature, such as carpenter, plumber, mechanic. , Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment. , Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services,) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection).
