THE OPPORTUNITY   

The Marketing Specialist will implement and execute go-to-market marketing strategies for various consumer products and categories (including, but not limited to gifts for missionaries, baptism, graduation, jewelry, clothing, home décor, fine art, etc.) targeted to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.    

 

This individual is directly involved in the launch of new products from the development stage in laying out the value proposition to our customers through various channels. The Marketing Specialist also supports the marketing team on various other projects, including digital marketing, design, video and photoshoots, event and campaign strategies, and copywriting. Deseret Book is a media and lifestyle company that caters to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.   

 

Successful candidates will have an understanding of products and audiences and have experience creating and executing strategic product marketing plans. The candidate should have experience in public relations and also be able to collaborate well with others and give and receive focused feedback. 

 

RESPONSIBILITES INCLUDE: 

 

80% Marketing Strategy Implementation. Develop marketing strategies and plans for key products that full-fill a job to be done for our communities and activate those strategies. This includes: 

  • Research and analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to marketing strategies that will reach and motivate the target audience.  
  • Execute those plans by working with channel managers, media buyers, and other team members in a collaborative and cooperative environment.  
  • Work closely with Senior Marketing Manager to determine KPI’s and budget.   
  • Analyze sales and KPI performance, and report regularly on strategy and sales performance.   

 

20% PR Outreach. Drive awareness of our key products through communications channels including news outlets, media organizations, podcasters, and influencers. This includes: 

  • Build relevant relationships to increase awareness for Deseret Book brand, products, and experiences. 
  • Develop plans to execute with these channels that will create awareness of brand, products, and experiences. 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field OR 2-3 years' work experience in marketing  
  • Great team player and works well in a collaborative environment.   
  • Detail-oriented: Ability to analyze results, prioritize work and organize time   
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills   
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral   
  • Proficient with technology: Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)   
  • Self-motivated and great self-manager   
  • Must be current on market trends and customer needs in conjunction with company mission and brand   
  • Experience in public relations   
  • Experience working with a project management system a plus
