JOB TITLE – Expo Cook (Part-Time)
DEPARTMENT – The Garden Restaurant at Temple Square
REPORTS TO – Kitchen Manager/Assistant Manager
SUMMARY
The Expo Cook is responsible for coordinating food orders and ensuring dishes are prepared and presented correctly before leaving the kitchen. This entry-level role serves as the communication bridge between the kitchen and front-of-house team, ensuring accurate and timely service. The Expo Cook plays a vital role in maintaining the flow of the kitchen and upholding presentation standards for all food items.
JOB ENVIRONMENT
Works primarily indoors in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment. Must be comfortable standing for long periods, handling multiple tasks simultaneously, and working evenings, weekends, and holidays. Interact frequently with both kitchen and service staff.
SKILLS, EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Entry-level position, previous kitchen or restaurant experience is a plus but not required
· Strong communication skills and attention to detail
· Ability to remain organized in a fast-paced environment
· Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
· Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm, efficient demeanor
· Adherence to company dress and grooming standards
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Coordinates and organizes completed food orders from various kitchen stations
· Ensures accuracy and presentation standards before sending dishes out to guests
· Communicate effectively with kitchen and service staff to maintain ticket flow and timing
· Maintains cleanliness and organization of the expo area
· Assists with labeling and garnishing food items as needed
· Supports line cooks and kitchen staff during high-volume shifts
· Performs other duties as assigned by management
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:
$14.00/hr. - $16.00/hr. This range is inclusive of multiple job levels. Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.
