About HD Build

HD Build is a fast-paced subcontracting company specializing in metal framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, insulation, and painting. We take pride in delivering high-quality work across Utah and out-of-state, including significant projects for the LDS Church. The estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing plans, specifications, and other project documents. This role plays a critical part in winning new work and ensuring profitability.

• Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Develop and maintain a database of unit costs, historical data, and subcontractor pricing.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Prepare bid packages, proposals, and budgets for clients.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients throughout the bidding process.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and assess project risks.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed.
• Update estimating software and tools with accurate data.

• 5+ years of experience as a construction estimator (or similar role).
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field (preferred but not required).
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Stack, Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift, Sage Estimating, or similar).
• Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and methods.
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
