Job Description

Position Summary:

The Water Quality Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and servicing of water softeners, whole home filtration systems, and reverse osmosis (RO) systems. This hands-on field role involves working in residential and light commercial settings to ensure clean, safe, and high-quality water for customers. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, reliable, and customer-focused, with experience in plumbing or water treatment installations.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Installation:
  • Install water softeners, whole home filtration systems, and reverse osmosis (RO) systems according to manufacturer specifications and plumbing standards.
  • Evaluate site conditions and customer needs to recommend the appropriate system type and size.
  • Perform plumbing connections, system setup, and start-up testing.
  • Service & Maintenance:
  • Conduct routine maintenance, including filter changes, system inspections, and performance checks.
  • Diagnose and repair issues such as leaks, pressure loss, or water quality concerns.
  • Maintain accurate service records for all jobs completed.
  • Customer Interaction:
  • Educate homeowners and property managers on system use and routine maintenance.
  • Provide clear communication about service schedules, installation procedures, and warranty terms.
  • Ensure a high standard of professionalism and customer satisfaction on every job.
  • Documentation & Compliance:
  • Complete service reports, installation records, and any necessary documentation.
  • Ensure installations comply with all applicable codes and regulations.


Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification in Plumbing, Water Treatment, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience:
  • 1–2 years of experience in installing water softeners, filtration systems, or reverse osmosis systems.
  • Journeyman or Apprentice Plumbing License preferred.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Proficiency with plumbing tools and water system components.
  • Ability to read installation manuals, blueprints, and follow detailed procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving and mechanical skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Capable of working independently and managing daily field service tasks.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in crawl spaces, basements, and attics.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and environments.
