Job Description

This is an opportunity to join a quality organization that takes pride in maintaining a complex wastewater collection and aerated lagoon sewer treatment system that provides safe and sustainable sewer service to Lake Point customers.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

·      Serving in an on-call rotation and responding to emergency call-outs.

·      Performing preventative maintenance of pumps, motors, aerators, and standby generators.

·      Must be able to lift 50 pounds, pull manhole covers, operate large valves, and climb ladders, etc.

·      Identifying power outages, sewer back-ups, pump failures, and/or other deficiencies in the wastewater system.

·      Installing and repairing pumps, aerators, flow meters, and chlorine feed systems.

·      Operating gantry cranes, chain hoists, dewatering pumps, pressure washers, and portable generators.

·      Locating and marking underground wastewater utilities for “Blue Stakes” service calls.

·      Monitoring the performance of pump stations and lagoons by physical observation and by SCADA or remote computerized monitoring.

·      Collecting and testing wastewater samples for in-situ parameter monitoring.

·      Testing effluent and adjusting chlorine dosage to meet established residual chlorine standards of disinfection.

·      Maintaining pump station operations records, analyzing water quality data for trends, and providing management with monthly operation reports.

·      Collecting and submitting wastewater quality data to the State of Utah Division of Water Quality as required.

 

Qualifications

We are seeking applicants with a high school diploma (or GED) and one year of experience in the wastewater industry, as well as self-motivation to work without direct supervision. Desired qualifications include technical training or relevant State of Utah Certifications in Small Lagoon (SL-S1) and Wastewater Collection I or above, “Blue Stakes” utility locating, and computerized SCADA operation. Must pass a background check and maintain suitability to work in a position of trust relating to the delivery of public water services. Must be able to serve in an on-call rotation, which requires the employee to carry a telephone and respond to emergencies outside of normal work hours, including weekends, nights, and holidays as necessary within the District's response time requirements, which may limit residency options.

Additional Information

As a condition of employment, you must pass testing for Utah Wastewater Certification Small Lagoon Operator Level SL-S1 and Collection Operator Level I within 12 months of employment.
