Stockroom coordinator
Job Summary
The Department of Chemistry has an immediate opening for a stockroom coordinator who will oversee ordering, receiving, inspecting and distribution of materials, supplies, chemicals, and cryogens. In charge of warehouse and issuing supplies/equipment as well as assisting with outgoing shipments.
Responsibilities
Oversees stores, receiving, delivery and shipping functions for the Chemistry departmentstockroom.Plans the range and quality of materials to be stocked based on consultation with Chemistry personnel.Evaluates supply needs, turnover rates, cost, perishability, hazardous nature of goods, and storage limitations.Makes decisions regarding the physical layout of the stockroom and assists with inventory maintenance.Monitors items which are not moving and determines redistribution actions.Oversees the receiving and inspecting of orders and resolves order problems with vendors and Chemistry. Verifies stock meets specifications and orders are complete.Oversees the distribution and delivery of supplies/materials to research labs, including large items.Monitors the receipt, inspection and delivery of radioactive and flammable materials according to federal standards and University policies and procedures.Work Environment and Level of Frequency that may be requiredOften: Hazards (includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, or exposure to chemicals).Often: Extreme cold, extreme heat, noise (there is sufficient noise to cause you to shout in order to be heard above the noise level). Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be requiredNearly Continuously: Hearing, listening, talking.Often: Walking, standing, bending, lifting - up to 50 pounds.Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead, lifting - over 50 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications
Four years shipping and receiving/stockroom experience, or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education), with preferably at least two years supervisory experience; the ability to routinely move or manipulate heavy objects; a knowledge of standard warehousing procedures; demonstrated human relations skills; and a commitment to provide excellent customer service required. A valid Utah Driver's license with proof of insurability may be required for positions that require delivery responsibilities.
Preferences
The ideal candidate will be able to move large items, climb stairs and lift up to 50 pounds.
Work will be performed in the stockroom which has a dock and open bay door.Safety goggles, lab coat and gloves may be required to perform some warehousing duties.
